Marlys W. Neufeld, age 71, of Hutchinson died on Friday, August 21, 2009 at her home in rural Hutchinson, MN. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, August 24, 2009 at the St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ellsworth Township with Pastor Tim Redfield officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Sunday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield, MN and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Monday. Marlys Wilma Neufeld, the daughter of Gustav E. and Emma L. (Leshousky) Hoffman, was born October 18, 1937, in Grey Eagle, Minnesota. She attended a country school near Grey Eagle, MN. She met her first husband in California and was united in marriage to Ivan Jex in Manitoba, Canada on March 24, 1958. Together they had 3 children and Marlys was widowed in 1964. She later met John Neufeld and was married on July 1, 1972. Together they moved to Minnesota in 1973 where they continued raising the children near Freeport and Albany, MN. They moved to the Hutchinson area in 1986, and later moved to their home on Lake Erie in 1990. She was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, fishing, doing crossword puzzles and living on Lake Erie. Marlys is survived by her husband John Neufeld of rural Hutchinson, MN; children William “Bill” (and Julianna) Jex of St. Cloud, MN and Julie Jex (and John Hendrickson) of Waubin, MN; 3 grandchildren Shannon and Sarah Jex and Jessica McDonald; siblings Lorraine Leshovsky of Wahpeton, ND, Erma (and Robert) Meagher of Melrose, Earl (and Carol) Hoffman of Avon, Gustav (and Delores) Hoffman of Grey Eagle, Eugene (and Sylvia) Hoffman of Rice and Albert (and Janet) Hoffman of Grey Eagle. She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband Ivan Richard Edward Jex in 1964; son Brian and brother Lyle Hoffman.
