Marion J. (Kurzhals) Rueckert, age 87, of Litchfield, MN, died on Friday, May 22, 2009 at the Dassel Lakeview Ranch in Dassel, MN with her family at her side. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 29, 2009 at the Litchfield United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Kerr officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Lake Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, MN.
Marion Jean (Kurzhals) Rueckert, the daughter of Theodore and Louise (Bahr) George was born on March 10, 1922 in Forest City, Iowa. She moved with her family to Crow River, MN in the 1920’s, and received her education in Litchfield, graduating from the Litchfield High School in 1940. She was united in marriage to Edward Kurzhals in December 1945. Marion was a school cook in Litchfield for over 25 years along with being a homemaker for her family. She was widowed in 1988, and 8 years later was married to Wes Rueckert. Marion was a member of the Litchfield United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Women’s Circle. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting and gardening. She also enjoyed sewing for family and friends, square dancing, putting jigsaw puzzles together, playing board games and spending time with her family and friends.
Marion is survived by her children David (and Jean) Kurzhals of Medford Oregon, Janice Burke of Denver, Colorado and Bob (and Mary Ellen) Kurzhals of Rockford, Minnesota; a son-in-law Orlan Cervin of Darwin, Minnesota; 9 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Theodore and Louise; husbands Ed Kurzhals in 1988 and Wes Rueckert in 2003; a daughter Lauri Cervin in 2002; brothers Bob George and Don George; and an infant sister.
