Marion Peters

Marion Peters, age 92, of Litchfield died on September 4, 2011 at Ecumen of Litchfield. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 9, 2011 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield with Pastors Harvey Nelson and Christian Meullerleile officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, Sept 8th at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Forest City Cemetery. Marion Peters, the daughter of Emil and Hannah (Olson) Mortenson, was born on December 18, 1918 in Litchfield. She grew up and received her education in Litchfield, graduating from Litchfield High School. On January 25, 1942, she was united in marriage to Boynton Peters in Litchfield. Together they engaged in farming near Forest City. Marion was a member of Home Extension and a charter member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield where she was active in Circle. She enjoyed square dancing, gardening, sewing, fishing, horseback riding. She and Boynton traveled and camped all over the U.S. Marion is survived by her children; children William J. (and Nancy) Peters of Sheldon, IA, Stephen J. (and Vicki) Peters of Litchfield, MN, Sharon L. (and Terry) Kivioja of Coon Rapids, MN, Susan M. (and Don) Christofferson of Kimball, MN and Rebecca J. (and Jeff) Thompson of Paynesville, MN; 14 grandchildren; 14great grandchildren; brother-in-law Archie (and Clarice) Peters of Litchfield, MN and sister-in-law, Charlotte Mortenson of Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Boynton, brothers, Carl and Art Mortenson, sisters, Charlotte Pederson, Lylias Hendrickson and Ruth Steinberg.
