Maria S. Lara

Maria S. Lara, age 82, of Litchfield, MN, died peacefully at home in Litchfield, MN, surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer on Thursday, June 25, 2015. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday July 1, 2015 at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield, MN. A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 30 at the Church of St. Philip with a Rosary and Prayer service at 7:30 PM. Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. Maria S. Lara, the daughter of Tomas and Leonarda (Montoya) Soria was born in Dolores, TX on May 27, 1933, the third child of five children. Maria was raised in Laredo, TX where she received her education at Martin High School in Laredo, TX. She was united in marriage to Daniel Lara, Sr. on November 5, 1955 in Laredo, TX and where blessed with six children. In 1979 Maria, along with her family moved to Litchfield, MN. In her younger years she was a farm worker and a receptionist in her high school years. She also worked at the BB Cleaners in Laredo, TX, and was the daycare provider for family and friends. She was a gracious loving grandmother, great grandmother and mother. Maria loved to dance to live Tex-Mex music, not to mention that she never missed an episode of her novelas (Spanish Soap's). Maria enjoyed attending local church bazaars and surrounding community bazaars. She also looked forward to holiday gatherings and Carne Asadads with family and friends. She enjoyed her flower garden and was passionate about going to and having her own garage sales. She is survived by her children Sylvia Lara of Fort Worth, TX, Daniel (Debra) Lara Jr. of Willmar, MN, Martha Lara of Grove City, MN, Marina Lara of Kandiyohi, MN, David (Leanne) Lara of Zimmerman, MN and Dario (Tawnia) Lara of Litchfield, MN; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and brothers Santiago Soria of San Antonio, TX and Ramon Soria of Detroit, MI.
