Mabel C. Pearson

Mabel Caroline Pearson, age 78, of Grove City, MN, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, June 9, surrounded by the love and comfort of family members. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 14, at 11:00 AM at the Litchfield United Methodist Church with Pastor Bill Kerr officiating. Visitation will be held Monday June 13th from 5-8 PM, with a prayer service and time for sharing at 7:30 PM at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery. Mabel, the daughter of Emil and Anna (Beckstrand) Marquardt, was born on May 5, 1933, in Litchfield, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Litchfield and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to Leslie Oliver Pearson on September 6, 1958, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. They made their home on his grandfather's farm in Danielson Township where they engaged in farming. She also enjoyed working at Coast to Coast Hardware in Litchfield. In 2008, she moved from the farm to South Grove Square in Grove City. Mabel was an active member of the Rosendale United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and shared her love of music by playing organ and piano. She later joined the United Methodist Church in Litchfield after moving off the farm. Mabel was the Meeker County Extension President in 1965 and a 4-H leader for many years. She enjoyed serving others by volunteering at the Meeker Memorial Hospital Gift Shop and serving meals at South Grove Square. Mabel was an avid knitter, card player and enjoyed socializing at birthday club. Mabel was a Watkins dealer for many years. Mabel is survived by loving children, Rona Blunt of Litchfield, Dale (and Linda) Pearson of Litchfield, Cleone (and Mark) Larson of Atwater and Douglas (and Denise) of Litchfield, 11 grandchildren, Justin Blunt, Alicia (and Kris) Toutges, Erin (and Jeff) Riebe, Kristin Pearson (and fiance Jared Elton), Erick, Micah and Ryan Larson, Cassandra, Ayla, Katie and Mariah Pearson, Kaitlin, Olivia, Alena Ilgar. Also surviving is brothers in law and sisters in law Donald (and Connie) Pearson of Litchfield, Vernon (and Janet) Pearson of Grove City and Brother in law Glenn (and Marie) Nelsen of Atwater and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, and loving husband Leslie O. Pearson.
