M. Victoria Flowers

M. Victoria ""Vicki"" Flowers, age 88, of Litchfield died Saturday, September 4, 2010, peacefully surrounded by family at her daughter's home in Brownton. A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield with Pastors Harvey Nelson and Christian Muellerleile officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery with Military Honors by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. M. Victoria Flowers, the daughter of Victor and Edith (Nelson) Nelson, was born on February 19, 1922 in Drayton, ND. She was baptized and confirmed in her faith as a youth at Red River Lutheran Church in Hallock, MN. Vicki graduated from Hallock High School in 1939. She spent one year at home and then enrolled in the 3 year Registered Nurses program at St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo, ND, graduating in 1943. Vicki joined the US Army Nurse Corp in January, 1944 and was stationed at the army hospital in Las Vegas, NV until her discharge in November of 1945. It was there that she met a married a pilot by the name of Bernard ""Bud"" Flowers on October 16, 1945. This marriage was blessed with 4 children; Peggy, Gary, Becky and Douglas. After being discharged from the service Bud and Vicki farmed in LeSueur county until 1956. They then moved to a farm southwest of Litchfield. Bud died in 1994 and Vicki continued to live on the farm until she moved to Emmaus Place in 2006. Vicki worked at the Meeker County Memorial Hospital, the Litchfield Clinic, for Dr. Donald Dille's private practice and then for Dr. Lennox Danielson's private practice. Bud and Vicki enjoyed many years of traveling to AZ to spend the winter and years of traveling throughout the U.S. Vicki enjoyed her association with her friends of the Happy Ramblers Camping Club. She was a member of the Ness Lutheran Church and Zion Lutheran Church where she was a dedicated worker of the library and sewing club. Vicki loved to read, sew and crochet. Spending weekends at her sister's in Crookston and time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren was most important to her. She is survived by her children; Peggy (and Paul) Anderson of Deerwood, MN, Gary (and Carmin) Flowers of Litchfield, Becky (and Ted) Rickert of Brownton and Douglas Flowers of Litchfield. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and her sister Bonnie Nelson of Crookston. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Bud in 1994.
