Lucille M. Mahlow, age 89, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Bethany Assisted Living in Litchfield, MN. A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
Lucille Mae Mahlow was born May 18, 1933, in East Lake Lillian Township to Ambrose and Kendrietta Bomstad. Lucille was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian. She grew up in rural Lake Lillian where she attended country school and graduated from Atwater High School in 1951. After graduation, she worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company as a telephone switchboard operator.
On December 7, 1956, Lucille was united in marriage to Donald Anthony Mahlow at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar, MN. They lived in Willmar before moving to the hobby farm they built together in 1964 in rural Lake Lillian. They were blessed with three children.
Lucille lovingly cared for her family as a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family, taking care of her grandchildren Marlaina and McKenna, dancing, going for walks, riding bike, listening to music, reading the newspaper, gardening, canning, baking, and making homecooked meals for her family.
Lucille was known for her devotion to and love for her family, her kindness, her goodness, laughter, keen sense of humor and quick wit.
Lucille is survived by her three children: Darin (Renee) Mahlow of Litchfield, Chad (Judith) Mahlow of Litchfield, and Leah Mahlow of Litchfield; her grandchildren: Marlaina and McKenna; step grandchildren: Kari and Corey, Karissa, Cassie, and Kyla; her sisters: Karen (Gordy) Houdek of Lake Lillian, Brenda (Virgil) Zins of Grove City, Nadine (Larry) Degner of Lake Lillian, Valerie Bennett of Willmar. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband Donald, parents Ambrose and Kendrietta, brothers Alvern and Larry Bomstad, and sister Lorraine Wieker.
