When Gene returned from WWII in 1946, they began farming and later moved to Lake Manuella where they farmed for over 60 years. She loved baking and always had pie, cake or cookies for family and friends who stopped by. She decorated many cakes for family occasions. She played piano and loved music of all kinds. She enjoyed nature especially birds and flowers. She belonged to many different organizations including United Methodist Women, Extension and Doll Club among others. She was a great photographer, did many crafts including painting and was a great collector particularly of dolls. Lorraine loved to travel and she and Gene visited Canada, the Holy Land and many US states including Alaska and Hawaii. She was adventurous and went on a Boundary Waters Canoe trip in her 60's and a hot air balloon ride when she was almost 80. She was a long time member of the Litchfield United Methodist Church.
