Lloyd Hanson

Lloyd H. Hanson, age 92, of Litchfield, MN, died on Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Dassel Lakeside Health Care Center. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday August 27, 2014 at the Litchfield Christian Church. A visitation will be held one hour before the service at church. Interment will be held at Lake Ripley Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. Lloyd Harvey Hanson, the son of Frank and Emily (Pearson) Hanson, was born in Litchfield on February 23, 1922. He received his education at Litchfield High School and served in the Coast Guard, where he was stationed in Coos Bay, Oregon. When he returned to Litchfield, he helped his parents on the family farm. He soon started working at Plate's Toggery in Litchfield and later began his career at Viren Johnson Clothiers, where he continued working until his retirement. He was a member of the Church of Christ and later the Litchfield Christian Church, the American Legion Post #104 and the Litchfield Men's Chorus. Lloyd had a quiet personality, and will be remembered as a caregiver to his family. He enjoyed fishing and volunteering. He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Ken (and Chris Jenkins) Hanson of Cloquet, MN, Kathy (and Virgil) Anderson of Dassel, MN, Sheila (and Larry) Rossell of Atwater, MN and Scott (and Delores) Hanson of Darwin, MN; 9 great-nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law Bob Philips of Bloomington, MN.
