Linnea E. Rick, age 91, of Litchfield died on Tuesday, May 20th at the Lakeside Health Care Center in Dassel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Litchfield with Pastor Paul Lindhorst officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the Church. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield.
Linnea E. Rick was born November 11, 1916 to Henry and Hilma (Nygren) Lee of the Beckville area. She was baptized and confirmed at the Beckville Lutheran Church. On May 28, 1937, she married Herman Rick at the home of her parents. Together they farmed near Forest City until retirement in 1974. Their son Donald was born in 1939 and daughter Betty in 1943. The family was active in St. Paul?s Lutheran Church. Linnea was active in Ladies Aid and Vespers Guild. She enjoyed working with the Prairie Twins 4-H Club and later the Forest City Livewires 4-H club and School Dist. 85 PTA. Herman and Linnea enjoyed their retirement years in Litchfield with gardening, long walks and special times with their grandchildren and great grandchildren. They also enjoyed their wonderful neighbors and being substitute grandparents to the many children that grew on South Chandler Avenue. Herman passed away April 15, 1993 and Linnea was able to live in her home until moving to Lakeside Care Center on April 8, 2008.
She is survived by her son Donald (and Shirley) Rick and daughter Betty (and Robert) Hermann of Litchfield, four grandchildren; Paul (and Michele) Rick of Deerfield, WI, Tami Watt of Watkins, Ryan (and Aimee) Rick of Crystal and Ruth Rick of Crystal. She was also survived by 6 great grandchildren; Aaron Rick, Elizabeth Rick, Emma Rick, Dylan Watt, Sophia Watt and Zachary Rick, her sister Dorothy (and Willard) Nordberg of Dassel, brother Kenneth (and Loretta) Lee of Winsted, sister-in-law Sally Lee of Litchfield and several nieces and nephews. Linnea was preceded in death by her husband Herman, grandson Todd Hermann, one sister and 2 brothers.
