LeRoy H. Lindquist, age 89, of Litchfield died on Monday, September 2, 2013, at the Emmanuel Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 6th at the Cornerstone Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 5th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery With Military honors provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. LeRoy H. LeRoy ""Roy"" Hedin Lindquist was born in Wheaton, MN, on September 10, 1923, to Fredolph and Annie Lindquist. He grew up in Wheaton , MN. LeRoy peddled ice with his dad, starting at the age of ten. They called him ""Iceman"" or ""Icey"" all through school. He graduated from Wheaton High School in 1943. LeRoywas united in marriage to Elnor ""Ellie"" Gaude on December 16, 1944, in Louisville, KY while he was serving in the Army. They lived in Louisville until 1947. During that time, they were blessed with their first daughter, Judy. From 1947 – 1950, they lived on a farm in Grove City and LeRoy worked as a car salesman for Swartzwald Motors. In 1950, they moved to Litchfield and were later blessed with their second daughter, Lorie. Eventually, he owned and operated his own business; Litchfield Sheet Metal. Music was a big part of his life. He was 13 when he got his first banjo, and he played in his dad's band at church. He was very musical and could play anything with strings. Later, he developed his talent on the harmonica.LeRoy was very active in the Litchfield Jaycees and was one of the founders of Watercade.He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. LeRoy is survived by daughters Judy Hansen of Circle Pines, MN and Lorie (Jeff) Garland of Litchfield; 6 grandchildren, Brenda (Dan) Steinhauser, Bruce (Kerri) Ringaman, Holly (John) Podvin, Kristi (David) Bundy, and Joshua and Mikahla Garland; 10 great-grandchildren: Rachel, Brandon and Justine Lanahan, Alexis Williams, Danielle, Christina, and Ali Steinhauser, Isaiah Ringaman, Eli and Micaiah Bundy; and sister Iola (Dave) Engelmann.LeRoy was preceded in death by Elnor ""Ellie"" Lindquist his wife of 61 years; his parents Fredolph and Annie Lindquist; an infant brother, sisters Ruby Stimmel and Lois Votteler, and brothers Jerome and Dale Lindquist.
