Leo P. Granlund

Leo P. Granlund, age 89, of Litchfield, MN, died at the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield on July 27, 2012. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield, MN, with Father Joseph Steinbeisser officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Church of St. Philip, with a prayer service at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Wednesday. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the family. Leo Paul Granlund was born on February 25, 1923 in Buffalo, MN to Paul and Ella (Elsenpeter) Granlund. He attended school in Buffalo, graduating in 1942. After high school, Leo worked with milling and drill press machines in Minneapolis. Leo was united in marriage to Jeanne Tacheny on August 28, 1946. Throughout their almost-64-year marriage, they lived in Buffalo, St. Michael, Elk River, Owatonna, and Litchfield. Leo worked at Main Motors in Anoka, MN, as a service manager for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, camping and traveling with family and friends throughout the U.S. and Canada. Leo is survived by his children, David (Paula Norton) Granlund of Elk River, MN; and Dale (Linda Schmit) Granlund of Litchfield, MN; grandchildren, Troy (Melissa Latham) Granlund; Tammi (Jeff Cessna) Robison; Jess (Melissa Cates) Granlund, Sarah Granlund, Becky Granlund; great-grandchildren December, Jerica, Brandi, Ella, Dylan, and Ayda; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
