Lenora Magdelene Olsen

Lenora M. Olsen, age 90, of Alexandria, formerly of Litchfield, died on Friday, February 14, 2014 at the Ecumen Bethany Community in Alexandria. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church. Lenora Magdelene Olsen, the daughter of Tilmer and Hilda Berg, was born on September 9, 1923 in Starbuck, MN. She grew up in Starbuck and graduated from Starbuck High School in 1940. She continued her education to be a hairdresser. On July 5, 1946, she was united in marriage to Chester Olsen at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Starbuck where they were both confirmed. They moved to Litchfield in 1949 and started Chet's Automotive Machine Service. They ran the business for 41 years. They were very active in the community. She was president of the Litchfield Lioness's Club and the VFW Auxiliary. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and was active in WELCA. After retirement they began wintering in Arizona. In December of 2010, they moved to Bethel Manor in Alexandria. She enjoyed bowling, music, fishing and flowers. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor and quick wit. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband Chester Olsen of Alexandria; daughters, Melodee Olsen (and Don Weicht) of Elk River, Lori (and Richard) Zastrow of Alexandria; grandchildren, Angie (and Clint), Rachael (and Kelly), Nicole, Crystal, Amber (and Jodi); seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by daughter-in-laws, Jennifer Olsen of St. Cloud, Chris Cummins (and Mark) of Woodbury. She was preceded in death by sons, Richard, Ronald and Keith; parents, sister Geneva Johnson and brother, Oswald Berg.
