Leland T. Pearson, 92, of Litchfield, died on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the Bethany Assisted Living in Litchfield, Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 5, 2016, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Sunday, December 4th at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield. Leland Theodore Pearson, the son of Theodore and Emma (Bjorkman) Pearson was born on May 10, 1924, in Watonwan County, Minnesota. He attended country school through the eighth grade and began working on the farm with his family at age 14. On September 22, 1946, Leland married Ruth Agnes Bottem at Albion Lutheran Church in rural St. James, Minnesota. Together they lived and farmed two different farms in the St. James area until they moved to a farm near Eden Valley in 1956. In 1964, they moved to rural Litchfield where they farmed in Harvey Township until retiring in 1986. In 1989, Leland and Ruth moved to Litchfield. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and in his younger years taught Sunday school and served as a Deacon. Leland's kindness and strong work ethic were obvious in his eagerness to help others. He will be remembered as a humble man with a witty sense of humor. Leland enjoyed playing cards, board games and shaking dice with his morning coffee group. He loved spending time with his family and his eyes would light up at the thought of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by sons, Lowell (Joanne) Pearson of Albuquerque, NM, Jon (Joan) Pearson of International Falls, Dean (Jeanne) Pearson of Watkins; daughter Debra (Frank) Steichen of North Mankato. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Lara (Matt), Thea, Mandy, Justin (Julie), Cara (Andy), BJ., Spencer (Emily); great grandchildren, Amalya, Priya, Nora, Noah, Luca, Neville and Declan. He is also survived by his brother LaVern (Joan) Pearson of St. James; and special friend Arlyn Grotto of Litchfield, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ruth and a sister Joyce Morello.Previous Events
