Lee A. Miley, age 94, of Grove City, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 with family by his side at Pine Haven in Melrose, Minnesota. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, February 27, 2009 at the Litchfield United Methodist Church in Litchfield, Minnesota with Pastor Bill Kerr officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. A private family interment will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Rosendale, MN. In lieu of flowers memorials will be given to alzheimers treatment and research.
Lee Arthur Miley was born on September 22, 1914 in Lac Qui Parle County, Minnesota to Jacob and Elizabeth (Ulrich) Miley. He was the sixth of eight children and grew up in Ortonville, Minnesota.
On January 4, 1936 he was united in marriage with Gloria L. Eklund. They farmed in the Atwater - Grove City area, with their five sons: David, Rodney, Dean, James and Jerry. Lee enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching baseball, horses, and camping in his RV. He valued education and will be remembered for his sense of humor.
Surviving are his five sons David (Karen) Miley of Edina, Rodney (Nancy) Miley of Grey Eagle, Dean Miley of Dayton, James (Bonnie) Miley of Apple Valley and Jerry (Alyce) Miley of Avon; sister–in–laws Eileen (Grant) Miley of Roseville and Annabel “Cookie” (Harold) Miley of Basin, Wyoming; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Gloria Lillian W. (Eklund) Miley; his siblings Harold, Virgil, Harvey, Mearl, Mearl’s twin sister who died at birth, Lloyd and Grant; his daughter–in–law Lily (Dean) Miley and his sister–in–laws Eunice (Mearl) Miley and Jesse (Harvey) Miley.
