Lavonne Alice Tintes

January 1, 1933 — April 19, 2019

Lavonne (Haag) Tintes, 86, died on Friday, April 19, 2019, at the Hilltop Healthcare facility in Watkins, Minn., after a long struggle with Parkinson Disease. She was born January 11, 1933, to Art and May Haag and grew up near Eden Valley. She married Walter Tintes on April 29, 1951. They lived on a farm near Manannah where they raised their seven children. Lavonne loved singing, gardening, baking (especially breads and pies), playing cards, crocheting and embroidery. Besides being a farmer’s wife, she did work several years at Fingerhut and Jenni-O-Turkey. She was known for her pies and caramel rolls at both the Eden Valley and Litchfield farmer’s market. Her children, grandchildren and friends were the beneficiaries of many a crocheted afghan or embroidered dish towels. She was a big Vikings fan and loved wearing the purple, as well as other Minnesota sports teams — Twins, Linx, Gophers. Lavonne is survived by her children: Vicky (Charlie) Ackerman, Judie (Jim) Birk, Jim (Kay) Tintes, Lynda (Dave) Carlson, Jerry Tintes, Lori (Gerry) Hartmann and Jason Tintes and her 24 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren with more on the way. She is also survived by her sister, Elaine Thissen and brother Art Haag. The funeral will be on Wednesday, April 24 at 11 a.m., at the Church of Our Lady Catholic church in Manannah, Minn. Visitation is Tuesday, April 23 at 5-8 p.m. and 10 a.m Wednesday. Special Thanks to both the Hilltop Healthcare Center and the St. Croix Hospice for the awesome care and love they showed Lavonne at the end of her life. “She gave her all and did her best, and not to impress others or to meet someone’s definition of success, but because she knew God was watching her, and He would honor her faithfulness.” — Morgan Harper Nichols
