Laurie Swanson

Laurie R. Swanson, age 48, of Litchfield died Thursday, December 2, 2010, at her home in Litchfield, MN. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the Cornerstone Church in Litchfield, MN, with Pastor Jeff Garland officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home, Litchfield, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Laurie Renee Swanson, the daughter of Raymond and Sandra (Bauley) Evans, was born February 14, 1962 in Minneapolis, MN. She moved to Litchfield with her family in 1964 and was raised with her 3 sisters. She graduated from Litchfield High School in 1980 and continued her education at Bemidji State and Willmar Community College. While in school Laurie was active in band, choir and the Dragonaires, volleyball, the Carpenters Tools and was a Hockey cheerleader. Throughout her life, she lived in Corpus Christi, Texas and Minneapolis, MN before returning to Litchfield. On December 24, 2006 she was united in marriage to Eric Swanson at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN. Laurie was an active member of the Cornerstone Church in Litchfield, MN. She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, crafting, ice skating, spending time with children and she cherished the time that she spent with her granddaughter Ezmeralda. She will be remembered for her love of animals, music and her beautiful singing voice. Laurie is survived by her husband, Eric of Litchfield, MN; children, Mitchell Evans and Murphy Evans of Litchfield, MN; stepchildren, Christopher (Mary Jansen) Swanson of St. Cloud, Christina (and Angel) Villenueva of Litchfield, MN and Chrystal (Derik Friel) Swanson of Litchfield, MN; granddaughter, Ezmeralda Villenueva; mother, Sandra Evans of Litchfield, MN; father and mother-in-law, John and Wilmette Swanson of Laurens, S.C.; sisters, Lisa (and Tom) Cox of Litchfield, MN and Lynda (and Mike Kosel) Evans of St. Cloud, MN; brother-in-law, Jon (and Colleen) Swanson of Hutchinson, MN; sister-in-laws Lonna Ortloff of Eagan, MN and Melanie (and Howard) Klug of Williston, N.D.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her father Ray Evans; maternal and paternal grandparents and a sister Leanne.
