Larry Wyman Johnson

Larry W. Johnson, age 72, of Grove City, passed away July 12, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 17th from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Larry Wyman Johnson, the son of Wallace and Florence (Oslund) Johnson, was born on September 16, 1942, in Litchfield. He grew up in the Rosendale area and attended country school. He graduated from the Cosmos High School in 1960. Following high school he farmed with his dad. On November 1, 1961, he was united in marriage to Donna Nelson at the Methodist Church in Cosmos. They made their home on the family farm south of Grove City. Larry continued farming and raising livestock. He also worked off the farm at various jobs including metal working and shop foreman at AIR in Atwater. Larry enjoyed the outdoors through hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and camping. He developed many friendships through these activities. In more recent years he and Donna liked to watch and feed birds. He loved spending time with his family and friends and playing the occasional joke. He is survived by his wife Donna of Grove City; sons, Ray Johnson and special friend Sue Laabs of Willmar, Roger Johnson of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Maggi Johnson and special friend Dustin Hatton and Will Johnson and special friend Tori Vanderwert; great grandson Holden. He is also survived by is sister, Carol (and Earl) Lovro of Brookings, SD, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Sheldon Johnson.
