Katherine Tonnell

Katherine E. Tonnell, age 93 died on Thursday November 14, 2024 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday November 22, 2024 at the Church of St. Anthony in Watkins, MN. A visitation will be held from 8:30 - 10:30 AM prior to the service at church. Interment will be held at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Watkins, MN.

Katherine Ellen Tonnell, the daughter of Nick and Aloysia (Blonigen) Mohs was born on September 20, 1931 in St. Cloud, MN. Katie graduated from Technical High School in St. Cloud in 1949 and was united in marriage to Richard Tonnell on April 4, 1949 at St. Augustine Church in St. Cloud. They resided in Watkins where Dick owned and operated the Watkins newspaper for twenty three years. In 1980, they moved to Eveleth, then Sauk Rapids and Waite Park before Katie recently moved back to St. Cloud. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, dancing and playing cards.

Katie is survived by her children and their spouses, Diane and James Collins of Gold Canyon, AZ, Vicki and Thomas Landwehr of Watkins, Janeen Tonnell of Venice, FL, Randy and Mary Tonnell of St. Augusta, and John ""Stitch"" Tonnell of St. Cloud; daughter-in-law, Shirley Tonnell of St. Augusta; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and three great great grand children.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, parents; children, David in 1973 and Douglas Tonnell in 1988, and Mary Tonnell as an infant; and 12 siblings.
