Keith D. Hillstrom

Keith D. Hillstrom, age 64, of Moorhead, MN, died on Wednesday, February 5, 2014, in Fargo, North Dakota. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home, Litchfield, MN. A visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Arndahl Lutheran Cemetery, Grove City, MN. Military honors will be provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. Keith Douglas Hillstrom, the son of George and Edith (Lien) Hillstrom, was born on August 26, 1949, in Litchfield. He grew up in Litchfield and was a member of the Boys Scouts of America. He attended school in Litchfield and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1967. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and then returned to Minnesota. He attended college and received an Associates degree. He rejoined the US Navy and served a total of 20 years. After his military service he worked for the Moorhead Public Schools and started taking college courses at Moorhead State and earned a BA degree. Keith was an active member of his church starting at Trinity Lutheran Church where he helped with the children's ministries. While he lived in Moorhead he attended the Sojourn Church and was active in Bible studies. Keith will be remembered as a gentle giant who had a gentle soul. He was very helpful and was a great listener. He was very artistic, enjoyed reading and was a history buff. He had a special place in his heart for all of his nieces and nephews. He is survived by his sister, Wanda Schroeder and Hardin Graham of Columbus, MT; brother, Bradley (and Andrea) Johnson of St. Cloud; uncle, Gordon (and Ann) Lien of Litchfield; nieces and nephews, Michele Schroeder, Jonathan Schroeder, Kelsie Larson, Cayden Larson, Chloe Johnson, Cassandra Johnson, Keira Johnson, Cavin Johnson and Katelyn Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father, George Hillstrom, mother, Edith Powell and niece, Jessica Gregerson.
