KAREN M FLEISCHHACKER

Karen M. Fleischhacker, 53 of Watkins, died unexpectedly at her home from a brain aneurysm on Sunday, October 2, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins with interment in the parish cemetery. Fr. John Brunner will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 – 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 -10 a.m. at the Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins. A rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home followed by parish prayers at 6 p.m. Karen M. Fleischhacker was born on December 31, 1957 at Minneapolis. She was the daughter of Gerald and Alicia (Steffens) Kohnen. Karen was united in marriage to Joe Fleischhacker on October 28, 1978 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Roscoe. They resided in Watkins and Karen was employed at the Pumpkin Patch Daycare in Paynesville. She also worked at the Amazing Farmyard at Paynesville and helped on the family farm. Her husband, Joe, died from cancer on August 17, 2011. Karen's hobbies included crafts, gardening, sewing and motorcycling. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her godchildren and her dogs and cat. Karen is survived by her son, Carl; mother, Alicia Gertken of Freeport; brothers and sisters and their spouses, Mary and Arnold Bechtold of Rogers, Debra and Jim Novacek of South Haven, Donald and Carol Kohnen of Paynesville, Robert and Tina Kohnen of Paynesville, Terri and Glen Fleischhacker of Freeport; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Kohnen; brother, James Kohnen and niece, Brenda Kohnen.
