Joyce F. Bastin

Joyce F. Bastin, age 70, of Dassel, MN, passed away on Monday, July, 22 2013 at her home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Joyce Frances Bastin was born on December 5, 1942 to Francis and Evelyn (Engels) Surges in Minneapolis, MN. She received her education at Osseo High School. She married Daniel McCain on April 25, 1959 and to this union 3 children were born; Deborah, Calvin and Keith. She later married Dennis Bastin on January 23, 1988 and together they lived several places before moving to Dassel. Joyce held many jobs throughout her life, including being an Avon Representative, a waitress, working in retail, assembling medical devices, and selling animal feed and cars before she retired. The job that she loved the most was being a mother and a stay at home mom. She was a good mother and enjoyed cooking, baking, shopping, crocheting, fishing, playing dice, doing puzzles and visiting with family and friends. Joyce baked many pies and collected strawberries, scotty dogs and rabbits. Joyce is survived by her children, Deborah (and Russell) Koehler of Dassel, MN, Keith (and Patty) McCain of Kingston, MN; 3 step-children, Cindi Bastin, Christina Bastin and Chastity Bastin; 7 grandchildren, David Koehler, Timothy Koehler, Calla Koehler, Samuel Koehler, Emma Koehler, Danny McCain and Andrea McCain; brother Gordon (and Sandy) Surges of Ackley, MN and aunt Mary Gigstead of Sacred Heart, MN.
