John T. Wimmer

John T. Wimmer, age 81, of Forest City died on Thursday August 2, 2018 at the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at the Church of St. Gertrude in Forest City. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment is in the St. Gertrude’s Catholic Cemetery. John Thomas Wimmer, the son on John and Elizabeth (Ertl) Wimmer, was born on August 18, 1936 in Forest City, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at the St. Gertrude Catholic Church. John grew up in the Forest City area and attended country school. He worked at the Forest City Creamery and for Litchfield Produce. On October 12, 1957, he was united in marriage to Joan Rosenow at the St. Gertrude Catholic Church. They moved to the Twin Cities where he worked at the Armory Creamery in Minneapolis. They moved back to Forest City in 1967 and he worked in construction and began farming. He raised livestock and started the Wimmer Spraying Service; white washing farm buildings. They retired in 2005. He was a member of St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church in Forest City. He had a talent of working with wood and made many things that his kids used and played with while they were young. John enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, polka dancing, bowling, gardening, playing cards, taking trips to the casino and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his children Jane (Conrad) Ficker of Forest City, John Wimmer, Jr. of Forest City, RoseAnn (Jim) Wendroth of Eden Valley, and Kenneth (Beckie) Wimmer of Forest City; grandchildren, Chad Ficker, Heather Movrich, Lisa Ficker, Becci Ficker, Sara Wendroth, James Wendroth, Travis Wendroth, Nick Winings, Emma Nistler and Katie Swanson; 16 great grandchildren; sisters Hildegard Ornberg of Litchfield and Valeria Schmidt of Princeton. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Elizabeth; wife Joan; brothers and sisters Donald, Clem, Isabelle, Gen, Delores and Ralph; and great granddaughter Kempley.
