John A. Weber, age 73, formerly of Litchfield, MN, died at the Golden Living Center in Battle Lake, MN on Tuesday, May 17, 2011. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Church of St. Philip with Father Joseph Steinbeisser and Monsignor Francis Garvey officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Litchfield. John Arnold Weber, the son of Clarence P. and Rose T. (Arnold) Weber, was born on June 9, 1937 in Litchfield, MN. He grew up in Litchfield and graduated from the Litchfield High School in 1955. He continued his education at the University of Minnesota. Throughout his life he lived in Litchfield, Willmar, Battle Lake and various treatment facilities. He was a member of the Church of St. Philip. When John was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia his family was very supportive and felt blessed with all of the care that was shown to him throughout his life. He enjoyed reading the Bible and was interested in chemistry, geology, philosophy and aeronautical design. John was loved by his friends, the staff, fellow patients, and relatives. However, outside of this circle, John and his family were stigmatized by people's lack of knowledge and empathy of mental illness. He will be remembered for his intelligence, his unique personality and as a talented artist. John is survived by his brothers, Michael (and Kay) Weber of Cold Spring, MN and Ted (and Judy) Weber of Annandale, MN; and his sister Judith (and Val) Young of Willmar, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Rose and his brother Nicholas. Previous Events
