John Ptacek

John Ptacek, age 90 of Litchfield, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2008 at the Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield with Father Joe Steinbeisser as celebrant. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. John Ptacek was born June 8, 1917 to John V. and Frances R. (Wosmek) Ptacek in Biscay, MN. He was united in marriage to R.M. Catherine Hurley. He was a dedicated dairy farmer in the Greenleaf area. He was a do-it-yourselfer who also enjoyed carpentry, mechanics, masonry, woodworking, and card playing. John became a member of the Church of St. Philip upon closing of the St. Columban's Catholic Church. John is survived by his daughter Virles (and David) Grimsgard; 2 grandsons Eric (and Melissa) Grimsgard and Darin (and Brierly) Grimsgard; 1 great grandson, and 3 great granddaughters all of Grove City. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances; wife Catherine (Hurley); 2 brothers Edward and Louis; and 3 sisters Frances Ptacek, Alice Rahn, and Helen Koepp.
