John Jacob Obar

John J. Obar, age 39, of Eden Valley died on Tuesday, August 23rd at the Hill Top Care Center in Watkins. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Eden Valley with Rev. David Milz officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday at the Church and will resume one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Eden Lake Cemetery in Eden Valley. John Jacob Obar, the son of Eugene and Marie (Ziegler) Obar, was born on December 9, 1971 in Mankato, MN. He grew up and received his education in Eden Valley. He moved to Paynesville and worked at various jobs before moving to North Branch. He did concrete work with Knutson Construction before owning and operating a printing business in North Branch. ALS forced John from his business and back to Eden Valley to be close to family. Whether watching NASCAR, four wheeling or riding snow mobile, John liked fast things. Even the pace of Heavy Metal music and the look of Muscle Cars enticed him. He was a very caring father and loved spending time with his children. John found it hard to live surrounded by strangers and soon his big smile, big laugh and out going personality made friends of everyone around him. He is survived by his children; Alexandra Obar of St. Cloud, Kayla Obar of North Branch, Jonathan Obar of North Branch, step-children; Elizabeth Lidberg and Emily Lidberg both of North Branch. He is also survived by his parents; Gene and Marie Obar of Eden Valley, sisters; Rebecca ""Becky"" (and Bob) Stenger of Eden Valley and Leah (and Erik) Hendricks of Eden Valley, brother, Thomas (& Leslie)Obar of Alcester, SD and grandmother Evelyn Obar of Litchfield, and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Elmer and Deloris Ziegler and Harvie Obar and niece, Ryley Arnold.
