John Hawkins

John W. Hawkins, age 77, died on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in Hutchinson, MN. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson, MN. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson, MN. John Wesley Hawkins, the son of Lester and Oma Ruth (Gibbs) Hawkins was born on October 27, 1932 in Kingsley, Iowa. He grew up and received his education in Iowa, graduating from Kingsley High School. He attended Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa where he studied agriculture. He enlisted in the military, serving in the United States Army. After being in the Army, John lived in Minneapolis and moved to Dassel in 1971. In 1994 he returned to Kingsley, Iowa after retiring from Honeywell. John enjoyed gardening, raising exotic birds, dancing, watching sports and spending time with his grandchildren. John is survived by his children Bryan (Nadine) Hawkins of Hutchinson, Eric Hawkins of Hutchinson, Tamara (Kelly) Cummings of Hutchinson, Carmen Hawkins of Minneapolis and Harmony Hawkins of Hutchinson; grandchildren Sebastian, Logan, Sarah, JosLynn, Jazmine, Cody, Jariden, and Jordan; siblings Virginia McCall of Mountain Lake, James (Mary) Hawkins of Sioux City, IA, Thomas (Kathy) Hawkins of Fairborn, OH and Donald (Rosie) Hawkins of Sioux City, IA, besides many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Oma Ruth Hawkins, son Todd Hawkins, brother Robert Hawkins, mother of his children Joan Hawkins and nephew Timothy McCall.
