Joann E. Johnson

Joann E. Johnson, age 84, of Litchfield, died on November 16, 2013 at the Ecumen Emmanuel Home in Litchfield, MN. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at the Augustana Memorial Chapel in Litchfield, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held in the Ness Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. Joann Elizabeth Johnson, the daughter of John and Esther (Johnson) Johnson, was born on May 17, 1929, in Litchfield, Minnesota. She was confirmed from Ness Lutheran Church in 1943 and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1947. After high school, Joann continued her education and received her teaching certificate from the St. Cloud State University. Joann then taught in various country schools until she became a 6th grade teacher for the Hutchinson Public School District, where she made a lifetime teaching career. She enjoyed teaching very much, and touched many students lives throughout her career. Joann was a Christian and enjoyed teaching children the gospel of Jesus Christ. She taught Sunday School at Ness Lutheran Church and Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield for many years. She also served on the Ness Lutheran Church council for many years. Joann was proud of her Norwegian Heritage and was a member of the Sons of Norway organization. She enjoyed being active in church activities, attending community concerts and plays and playing cards with friends. Joann is survived by her nephew John Johnson of Las Vegas, NV; nieces Jody (and Tim) Schloesser of Fairbanks, AK, Jill (and Joel) Ramthun of Litchfield, MN, and Kris (and Steve) Dollerschell of Litchfield, MN; 2 great nieces and 4 great nephews; cousins Delores (and Ellsworth) Lorentzen of Hutchinson, MN; Doris (and Leonard) Russell of Spicer, Don (and special friend Bev) Johnson of Moorhead, MN and cousin-in-law Bev Johnson of Litchfield, MN. She is also survived by many friends.
