Jean ""Jeannie"" L. Wegner, age 91, of Litchfield passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in her home in Litchfield surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 6, 2017, at the United Methodist Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Sunday March 5th at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield with an Eastern Star service at 5:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery.
Jean Louise Wegner, the daughter of Edward and Helen (Emmons) Colbeck, was born on May 2, 1925, in Luverne, MN. She grew up in Rochester and graduated from high school there in 1943. She continued her education at Indiana University. On August 14, 1946, she was united in marriage to Hugh A. Wegner in Rochester. They lived in Sparta, WI, moved to Rochester in 1953 and later moved to Litchfield. She ran her own antique store for a short time in Litchfield. Jeannie was a member of the Eastern Star and volunteered at the hospital gift shop. Her faith was very important compelling her to be an active member of the United Methodist Church and UMW in Litchfield. Singing was a big part of Jeannie's life; whether singing with the South Fork Singers, singing in church or just singing around her home. Jeannie enjoyed entertaining, reading, and antiques. She loved playing Bridge and was a member of several Bridge clubs. Jeannie loved her family and displayed a phenomenal strength as a caregiver and devoted wife to Hugh for the last five years of his life. She is survived by her children Merle (and Denise) Wegner of Anchorage, AK, Karen Alger of Waite Park, Lisa (and Bobby) Hollingsworth of Nolensville, TN; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Hugh, daughter Carol Wegner and brother Merle Colbeck. Previous Events
