Jean Granlund

Jeanne M. Granlund, age 84, of Litchfield died peacefully at her home in Litchfield on August 14, 2010. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 20, 2010, at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield, MN, with Father Joseph Steinbeisser officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Church of St. Philip, with a prayer service at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Friday. Interment will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the family. Jeanne Margaret Granlund was born on December 1, 1925 in St. Clair, MN to Joseph and Grace (Vigue) Tacheny. She attended school in New Ulm, MN through ninth grade, and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1943. Jeanne was united in marriage to Leo Granlund on August 28, 1946. Throughout their almost-64-year marriage, they lived in Buffalo, St. Michael, Elk River, Owatonna, and Litchfield, where she was active in the Catholic Churches. Jeanne was a homemaker, the head cook in the Elk River School District for 16 years, and continued her education in meal preparation through nutrition courses . She was a jewel clerk for Josten's in Owatonna, and retired in 1987. Jeanne enjoyed sewing, reading, fishing, camping, doing crossword puzzles, playing cards, dancing, and cooking for family gatherings. She also enjoyed traveling with family and friends throughout the U.S. and Canada. Jeanne is survived by her husband Leo of Litchfield, MN; children, David (Paula Norton) Granlund of Elk River, MN; and Dale (Linda Schmit) Granlund of Litchfield, MN; grandchildren, Troy (Melissa Latham) Granlund; Tammi (Jeff Cessna) Robison; Jess (Melissa Cates) Granlund, Sarah Granlund, Becky Granlund; great-grandchildren December, Jerica, Brandi, Ella, Dylan, and Ayda; siblings, Robert (Sylvia) Tacheny; Stanley (Dorothy) Tacheny; James (Joanne) Tacheny; Victor (Janice) Tacheny; Carol (Raymond) Mueller; and Joseph (Ann) Tacheny; and many nieces and nephews. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Sgt. Ralph Tacheny, and his wife, Verna.
