Janice A. Bergren

Janice A. Bergren, age 86, of Litchfield died in Buffalo, MN on Monday, January 13, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at All Saints Lutheran Church in Darwin with Pastor Joe Midthun officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home, Litchfield, MN and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Sunday. Interment will be held at All Saints Lutheran Cemetery, Darwin, MN. Janice Ann (Melhus) Bergren the daughter of Richard and Lillian (Thysell) Melhus, was born on July 18, 1927, in Moorhead, MN. Her family moved to Minneapolis and she graduated from the South Minneapolis area High School. She continued her education and received a certificate in Keypunch. She worked for FMC as a keypunch operator. She married Kenneth David Bergren on January 10, 1948 in Minneapolis and they resided in the northern part of the twin cities. They then moved to Darwin, MN and built a home on Lake Stella. She was a member of the All Saints Lutheran Church in Darwin. They wintered for 15 years on Weslaco, Texas. In 1999, they moved to Litchfield and she lived there until Ken's death in 2011. Janice moved to Buffalo, MN to be closer to family. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Meeker County Navy Club. Janice was active in the Children's Miracle Network. Janice enjoyed music, spending time with family, golfing, fishing and gardening. She will be remembered as a devoted, loving mother and wife. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by 4 of her children: Barbara Bednarz of Gold Canyon, AZ, Dianne George of Buffalo, MN, Nancy (and Ron) Elam of Buffalo, MN, Gary (and Carla) Bergren of Pine River, MN; grandchildren, Ken (Jodi) Robinson, Rebecca Robinson-Ottaviano (and Joe Ottaviano) Janice (Jeremy) Dahlen, Caroline (Don) Felix, Jason George (and Jenny O'Brian) , Chad George, Lane George, Josh George (and Michelle Anderson), Christina (Ed) Cox, Nathan (Angie) Elam, Alissa (Luke) Piram, Greg (Shirleen) Bergren, Derek (Stephanie) Bergren and Maggie Bergren; and many great grandchildren.
