James B. Thompson

James Thompson, age 67 of St. Cloud, Minnesota, formerly of Litchfield, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at Elevate Nursing Home in Niles, IL. James was critically injured by a hit-and-run driver on June 22, 2023 in St. Cloud, and finally succumbed to his traumatic brain injuries. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 10, 2025 at Johnson Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield. Burial will be at Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Friday. 

James (Jim) Bradley Thompson was born on April 2, 1957 in Minneapolis to Arnold Walter and Arlene (Jones) Thompson, one of three triplet boys. He went to elementary school in Chaska, and lived near Lake Ripley until 1969 when he and the Thompson family moved to Litchfield. Jim attended Litchfield High School, where he and his triplet brothers, Jerry, and Jeff, enjoyed impersonating each other, much to the consternation of some of his teachers. Jim graduated from LHS in 1975. 

Jim served our country in the United States Army. He lived numerous places throughout his life, including Minneapolis, and enjoyed traveling to new places. He was a disabled veteran, and always maintained a sense of humor in spite of living with enduring physical pain. He enjoyed fishing, photography, collecting vintage items, and watching the Minnesota Vikings. Jim was often busy supporting, and caring for, his brothers, sister, nieces, and nephew. He will be remembered for his generosity, and for his compassion. He will be missed by all who knew him. 

James is survived by his brothers, Jeff and Jerry of Crystal, MN, Terry of Willmar, MN, and Steve (and wife Cathy) of Estero, Florida, his sister Kimberley Thompson of St. Louis, MO, his nieces, Dakota Blue and Josie, and nephews, Alex and David, as well as numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold Walter Thompson and Arlene (Jones) Thompson.
