James L. Theis, age 58, of Rural Watkins died on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at the St. Cloud Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 14, 2014, at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, April 13th at the church with a parish prayer service at 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the St. Gertrude Catholic Cemetery. James Lyle Theis, the son of William and Josephine (Mies) Theis, was born on March 6, 1956, in Litchfield. He grew up in rural Watkins and attended school in Eden Valley. He graduated from Eden Valley High School in 1974. He continued his education for a year at Willmar Vo. Tech. Jim worked at Custom Products for several years before working for Herberger's Distribution in St. Cloud and Mills in Eden Valley. On November 10, 1990, he was united in marriage to Cindy Pollock at St. Gertrude's Catholic Church in Forest City. In 1994, he and Cindy started C& J Monogramming. They purchased the Partner's Hardware Hank Store in Litchfield in 1998 and operated it together. Jim was a member of St. Gertrude's Catholic Church, the Eden Valley Sportsman Club, Forest City Threshers, Stearns County Pioneer Club, Meeker County Trail Association, the Darwin Drifters, Pheasants Forever, the Northwest Turkey Federation and the Deer Hunters Association. Jim was a Firearms and Snowmobile Safety Instructor. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and gardening. He is survived by his wife Cindy Theis of Watkins, brother Maynard (and Margie) Theis of Watkins; sisters, Susan Abel of Williamsport, Indiana and Dorothy (and Gene) Haag of rural Kingston. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marvin and Joseph and sister, Sylvia Hagedorn. Previous Events
