James Elmer Steil

James E. Steil, age 67, of Litchfield died on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at his home in Litchfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at St. Philip Catholic Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM at the church. Interment will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. James Elmer Steil, the son of Frank and Viola (Hansen) Steil, was born on February 18, 1951 in St. Cloud, MN. He grew up near Eden Valley and attended school there. He graduated from Eden Valley High School and continued his education at St. Cloud Vo Tech. Following school he moved to Litchfield and began working for Custom Products. He then worked for Palm Industries and Hutchinson Manufacturing before working for Uni Hydro in Cosmos. On May 26, 1973, he was united in marriage to Debbie Harding in Eden Valley. James loved hunting and trap shooting. He also enjoyed cars and watching races. He is survived by his wife Debbie Steil of Litchfield; sons Brad (and Megan) Steil of Ham Lake, Bo (and Hailey) Steil of Hutchinson, Blake (and Kayla) Steil of Sartell; grandchildren Aubrey Steil, Carter Eckblad and Harrison Steil. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law David Harding and Pat Dougherty, sister-in-law Wendy (and Allen) Neu; his brother Frank (and Rose) Steil of Eden Valley and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Marilyn Dougherty.
