James M. Foley, age 84, died on Friday, March 29, 2013, at the Cokato Manor. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, April 1st at the church with a parish prayer service at 7:45 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Litchfield with Military Honors provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard.
James Michael Foley, the son of Tobias and Lucille (McCarney) Foley, was born on May 14, 1928, in Manannah Township, MN. He grew up near Manannah and attended country school. From the age of twelve Jim worked for area farmers. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during WWII from 1944 to 1946. After his service he returned to Meeker County. Jim worked at the Lumber Yard in Litchfield as a yard man and truck driver. He was a member of the Church of St. Philip and was always willing to help with church events.
Jim enjoyed wood working, yard work and having coffee with friends. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Jim is survived by his wife Mable of Cokato, daughters; Mary (and Arthur) Hoffman of Brownton, Kay Foley of Mankato and Carol Clough of Litchfield. He is also survived by his granddaughter Jenny Hoffman (and Steve Schultz) , grandsons Larry (and Stacie) Hoffman, Ryan Clough and Kyle Clough, great granddaughters, Lydia Schultz, Ava Hoffman and Ella Hoffman, great grandson Noah Say, brother Paul (and JoAnn) Foley of Richmond, sister Mary Walsh of Hastings, many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Barb Foley sister Betty and a sister in infancy. Previous Events
