James L. Finke age 62 of Cosmos, died on Saturday, November 29, 2008, at the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield, MN. A Memorial Service will be held at the Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos on Thursday, December 4th at 7:00 PM with Pastor Marlaine Doidge officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00-7:00 PM at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos, MN. James Leslie Finke, the son of John and Norma (Hemmingway) Finke, was born September 15, 1946, in Fargo, ND. He grew up and attended school in Coon Rapids. He attended Hutchinson VoTech from 1986 to 1988, and learned to work on small engines. James was blessed with four children from a previous marriage, Troy, Lisa, Brian, and Dean. In 1994, James was united in marriage to Audrey Westberg at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos, and this union was blessed with three sons Corey, Daniel, and Adam. He worked at a variety of jobs to support his family, including mechanic work and driving truck for Porta Dock in Dassel. James absolutely loved the outdoors. When he wasn’t working, he could be found hunting, fishing, and camping. He found peace in campfires, socializing with friends, being with his family, and riding his motorcycle. James is survived by his loving wife Audrey of Cosmos; children Corey, Daniel, and Adam all at home in Cosmos, Lisa Finke, Brian Finke, and Dean Finke all of Grand Marias, MN; nine grandchildren; brother Bill (Joy Greenlun) Finke of Rockford, MN; sisters Kathy Weidenhaft and Rebecca Hurtgen both of Chippewa Falls, WI; and many other loving relatives and friends. James is preceded in death by his parents and son Troy Finke.
