James Carlson

James “Jim” H. Carlson, age 73, of Verndale, MN, formerly of Litchfield, MN, died Saturday, December 27, 2008 at the St. Cloud Hospital, in St. Cloud, MN. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield, MN with Pastor Truman Stehr officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 12:30 - 2:00 PM at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield. Military Honors will be provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. James Harold Carlson was born on February 26, 1935 in Litchfield, MN to Louis and Henrietta (Blomker) Carlson. Jim joined the Army November 22, 1952 at the age of 17 and proudly served in the Korean War as a Paratrooper. On November 7, 1968 Jim married Margaret Mary Ahl in Litchfield, MN. Jim was an outdoorsman who greatly enjoyed his solitude. He loved his family, friends, farming, country music and nature. He had a great sense of humor and a joyful laugh that we will miss very much. Jim was greeted in heaven by his parents Louis and Henrietta; wife Mary; sons Troy and Durke; sisters Hildegarde, Gladys, Orpha, Marian, and Darlene; brothers, Ralph, Elmo, Donald, Gordon, and Dale. Jim is survived by his three children Yalonda (Roger) Fossen, Dawn (Kevin) Carlson, and Dusthan (Sonya) Carlson; six grandchildren Ryan, Rhea, Durke, Brooklyn, Dusthan, and Conner; great grandson Keaton; brothers Wayne, Marlin “Bud”, and Dick; nieces and nephews.
