Jacob A. Hughes, age 16, died on Sunday, July 19, 2009, near Long Prairie, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Cornerstone Church in Litchfield with Pastor Gary Worthington officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from Noon until 2:00 PM at Cornerstone Church.
Jacob Aaron Hughes, the son of Douglas and Michelle (Kolles) Hughes, was born on December 20, 1992 at St. Jude’s Hospital in Fullerton, California. Jacob moved to Litchfield with his family in 1997 and attended Litchfield Public Schools. His love of music was displayed through his involvement in the pep band, marching band, jazz band, concert band, and more recently, playing bass guitar in church. He enjoyed sports, specifically playing football and tennis for the Dragons. In 2007, Jacob joined the Boy Scouts of America and just recently achieved LIFE Rank. He enjoyed spending time teaching younger kids, fishing with friends, playing Internet RuneScape, and was particularly fond of his cat, Cupcake.
Jacob is survived by his parents, Douglas and Michelle Hughes of Litchfield, sister, Elizabeth Hughes of Litchfield, grandmothers, Arlene Lokken of Appleton and Lorraine Kolles of Elk River, many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Raymond Kolles and Clyde Hughes.
