Irene Nistler

Irene Theresa Nistler, the daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth (Pfann) Nolz, was born on March 15, 1937, in Carrington, ND. She grew up in Sykeston, ND and graduated from Sykeston High School. She moved to Minneapolis and worked for Schmitt Music. While in Minneapolis she met her lifelong partner Roman ""Ron"" Nistler. On September 13, 1958, they were united in marriage in Sykeston. They had just celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in September. They moved to Columbia Heights where she worked as a bookkeeper. They moved to Litchfield where they owned and operated the Standard Oil Station. In the early 60's they moved to Sleepy Eye. They owned a Holiday Station and Ron's Sport Shop. In 1971 they returned to Litchfield. Irene enjoyed being a mother and homemaker while also keeping books for and supporting Ron in his businesses. She was a cancer survivor and was active with the Relay for Life. She was an active member of the Church of St. Philip. She served on the funeral committee, as sacristan, Eucharistic Minister and with Catholic United Financial. She received the Bishop's Service Medal for volunteering. She liked being in and among the ladies of the church. She enjoyed sewing, reading, playing cards and cooking. She loved her family, especially being an active and caring grandmother. She is survived by the love of her life, husband, Ron Nistler of Litchfield; children, Yvonne (and Phil) Mathias of West Fargo, ND, Karen (and Richard) Brouillette of Greenville, NH, Paul (and Angie) Nistler of Bemidji, Mark (and Lesley) Nistler of Minneapolis and Lisa Hested of Glenwood; grandchildren, Matthew and Elizabeth Mathias, Lauren, Rachael, Nicholas, Mark, Patrick, Joseph, and Maria Brouillette, Bronson and Brenton Nistler, Noah and Addison Nistler and Samuel Hested. She is also survived by her sisters Eleanor Sondag of Carrington, ND and Delores Shuman of Marysville, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Paul and Francis Nolz, sister Gertrude Wild and an infant brother. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Church of St. Philip for new office furnishing are preferred.
