Iona Mathilda Bulau

Iona M. Bulau, age 92, of Litchfield died on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at the Emmanuel Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, January 26th at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church and will continue one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery. Iona Mathilda Bulau, the daughter of August and Martha (Steffen) Milbrandt, was born on January 24, 1922, in Bellingham, MN. She grew up in Bellingham and received her education there. On June 12, 1939, she was united in marriage to Edwin Louis Bulau in Hector, MN. Together they farmed near Buffalo Lake, Brownton and Stewart where they also had a mink ranch. In 1978, they moved to Lincoln Apartments in Litchfield. Iona was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, sewing and crocheting. She is survived by her children, Howard (and Paula) Bulau of Glencoe, Leslie (and Mary) Bulau of Hutchinson, Ralph (and Judy) Bulau of Glencoe, Barb (and Gene) Bahr of Litchfield, Douglas Bulau of Brooklyn Park and friend Judy; 19 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Lack of Hutchinson; sister-in-law, Helen Milbrandt of Madison, MN, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martha and August Milbrandt; husband, Edwin; brothers, Rudy, Alfred, Bill, Ben, Arthur; sisters, Clare, Doris, Caroline, Mabel; 3grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
