Idella H Moe lived a rich life, filled with family and friends before passing away at Meeker Manor in Litchfield on Saturday, July 1st at the age of 99. A visitation will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM, on Monday, July 10th at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City. Interment will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Grove City. Idella H Moe was born to Ingvald and Hannah Caroline (Peterson) Moe on August 18, 1917 on the family farm just south of Grove City MN, Acton Township. Idella was baptized on September 27, 1917 and confirmed on October 18, 1930 both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Grove City MN. Idella shared many great memories of school days and graduated from Grove City High School on Memorial Day, May 31, 1934. She remained a Grove City School supporter all her life. Idella's purpose was to ""live life"" making the most of each day from sunrise to sunset. As a lifelong resident of Grove City, Idella was a charter member of the Grove City Women's Club, Grove City Area CARE program and Grove City Area Historical Society and Museum. Idella, together with Dorothy Abitz and Margaret Nelson, founded the Grove City August Fest. Other community involvement included: City Council member; member of Grove City/Atwater 9 O'clockers club, Sociable Card club, bridge clubs, and West Acton Extension Club. Idella enjoyed her involvement with the Augustana Lutheran Homes Auxiliary as well as shopping for the Emmaus Gift Shop. Idella was employed by Meeker Cooperative Light and Power Association, 1942-1982 in various capacities. She enjoyed her job and co-workers so much that never seemed to be ""work"". As a faithful servant, Idella was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grove City (1917-1991) and continued her membership with Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City. She enjoyed being a Sunday School teacher and Superintendent as well as Bible School teacher, Teen League leader; chaperoning many trips, being a member of the choir, serving on the Church Council, library board, Faith Circle, Trinity visitors and being active in WELCA. Idella was never afraid to try any craft or art, purchasing all supplies that were needed. Together with her trusty friend and co-worker Ivan Olson, they created many projects from stained glass to woodworking art. She took great pride in her flower garden and enjoyed the warmth of sunshine. One of her favorite hobbies was collecting antiques such as Tea Leaf Stoneware which she enjoyed using while entertaining family and friends as the perfect hostess. She especially enjoyed the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. Idella touched so many lives as she surrounded herself with community, she will be remembered for her countless hours of volunteering. Having no children of her own, Halloween became one of her favorite holiday's greeting children and giving out candy to those who came to 411 3rd Street in Grove City. Her Norwegian heritage was a special part of her life, being involved in the Sons of Norway group as well as decorating a room in her home with special Norwegian treasures. When stopping in to visit you were always welcomed with a cup of coffee and goodie. Idella leaves her legacy to family which includes: Richard (Lorna) Thorp of Atwater, Jim (Judy) Moen of Litchfield, Judy (Mark) Hulterstrum of Litchfield, Donna (Scott) Whitcomb of Grove City, Gary (Teresa) Moen of Litchfield, Ardis Thorp of Litchfield and Gerry Moen of Litchfield. Idella was preceded in death by her parents and cousins Dorothy Thorp, Gerald Thorp, Donald Moen, Perry Moen, Stella Paulson and Doris Grambow.Previous Events Visitation Monday, July 10, 2017 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Trinity Lutheran Church 54384 Highway 12 East Grove City, MN 56243 Visitation Monday, July 10, 2017 7:00 PM Trinity Lutheran Church 54384 Highway 12 East Grove City, MN 56243
