Hugh Smith

Hugh Smith, age 75 of Darwin, passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Darwin, Minnesota on Monday, March 11, 2024. A visitation will be held one hour prior. 

Hugh Jeffrey Smith, the son of Shirley Smith and Mary Theuringer was born on November 12, 1948 in Litchfield, Minnesota. He graduated from Litchfield High School in 1966 and served in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1971. Hugh farmed until the 1980s and then worked as a manufacturer. 

In January of 1998, he was united to Peggy Hanson Larson in Litchfield, Minnesota. Hugh enjoyed traveling, military history, spending time with his friends and family, and supporting Minnesota sports teams. 

Hugh is survived by his children, Kyle Smith of Melbourne, FL, Anne (Lance) Wiggert of Hutchinson, MN, Michelle Larson (Steve Nelson) of Litchfield, MN; three grandchildren; and sister Holly Seaver of Columbia, MO. He is preceded in death by his wife Peggy and parents Shirley and Mary.
