Howard H. Holtz, age 90, of Litchfield, MN, died on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Ecumen Emmanuel Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 18, 2015 at the St. Matthew's United Church of Christ in Forest City, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home with a 7:30 PM Prayer Service and will continue one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be held in Lake Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. Military Honors will be provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. Howard Herbert Holtz, the son of Paul and Bertha (Henkelman) Holtz, was born on August 18, 1925 in Forest City Township, MN. He received his education in the School District 67 and worked on farms in the Forest City area until he entered and served in the U.S. Navy. Howard was united in marriage to Donna Shoutz on September 14, 1948 at the St. Matthew's United Church of Christ in Forest City, MN. He worked as a road grader operator for the Meeker County Highway Department for 37 years and was also a gravedigger in the area for 18 years. Howard was an active, life long member of St. Matthew's United Church of Christ, where he sang in the church choir, helped with youth fellowship, was part of the Men's Brotherhood and was the past president and treasurer. He was also a member of the Litchfield V.F.W. and American Legion. Howard was a skilled handyman at work and home, and enjoyed dancing, fishing, hunting, trapping, cooking and spending time with his friends, family, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Howard is survived by his wife Donna of Litchfield, MN; children Archie (Phyllis) Holtz of St. Cloud, MN, Thomas (Deborah) Holtz of Litchfield, MN, Wesley (Linda) Holtz of Litchfield, MN, Dean (Joan) Holtz of St. Joseph, MN and LaDonna (John) Hill of Buffalo, MN; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; brother Maynard (Shirley) Holtz of Hutchinson, MN; and sister Ruby Holste of Litchfield, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Bertha; brothers Vernon and Loren; sisters Helen Doebler and Pearl Risner; and twin grandchildren Zachary and Nathan Hill.Previous Events
