Helen A. Winings, age 90, of Watkins died on Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at the Rice Hospital in Willmar. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, December 17, 2010 at the St. Matthew's United Church of Christ in Forest City. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church. An Eastern Star prayer service will be at 7:30 at the funeral Home. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery. Helen Arlene Winings, the daughter of Frank and Maude (McConnaha) Windman, was born on June 20, 1920 in Muscatine, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Irvin Eugene ""Gene"" Winings of August 31, 1938 in Muscatine. They moved to the Winings' family farm near Watkins. Besides being a devoted farm wife Helen worked as a cook for the Litchfield Hotel and golf club. She also cooked at Augustana Homes. She was a member St. Matthew's United Church of Christ and the Order of Eastern Star. Helen enjoyed cooking, traveling and especially spending time with her family. She is survived by her children; Gail Winings of Watkins, Ronald (and Jannel) Winings of Watkins and Bev (and Tony) Hartzburg of Willmar, two grandchildren; Beckie (and Ken) Wimmer of Litchfield, Bradley (and Kayla) Winings of Watkins, 5 great grandchildren; Nicholas Winings, Emma Wimmer, Katie Wimmer, Jaren Winings and Brittany Winings and one great great grandson Carter. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband ""Gene"" in 2004, daughter-in-law Mavis and three sisters; Della, Vella and Lucille.
