Helen Marian Osdoba

Helen M. Osdoba, age 97, of Litchfield died Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Ecumen of Litchfield. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at First Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. Helen Marian Osdoda, the daughter of Magnus and Minnie (Anderson) Nelson was born in Litchfield, MN on January 31, 1915. She was baptized on February 28, 1915 at home and was confirmed June 15, 1930 at First Lutheran Church by Pastor Franzen. She attended Litchfield High School and graduated in 1934. After graduation she attended Paul's School of Cosmetology in Minneapolis and worked there until she was married. Helen was united in marriage to George Marcus Osdoba on September 1, 1941 at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield, MN. Together they lived in Litchfield where her husband worked and was part owner of the Greep-Trueblood Department Store. After Marcus died in 1952, Helen returned to work in 1956 at the Kurlelox and Dee's Family Hairstyling, retiring in 1992. Helen was an active member of First Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, yard work and walking. She also liked playing bridge, sewing and crocheting. Helen loved spending time with her family and helped take care of three generations; including her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Cathy Osdoba of Litchfield, MN, Nan (and Bob) Greenhow of Litchfield, MN and Richard (and Kay) Osdoba of Chaska, MN; grandchildren, Steve (and Cathy) Michaud, Darcie (and Lyle) Pringnitz, Alisa Allen, Mandy (and Steve) Nelson and Jennifer Osdoba; 9 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and a sister Lorraine Springer of Fargo, MN.
