Hazel Marie Erickson

Hazel M. Erickson, age 87, of Litchfield died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 10, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 13, 2015, at the Beckville Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Beckville Lutheran Cemetery. Hazel Marie Erickson, the daughter of Harry and Annie (Onell) Olson, was born on February 6, 1928, in Dassel. She grew up in Dassel and graduated from Dassel High School in 1946. Following high school she worked various local jobs. She was united in marriage to Marlyn Nelson on July 7, 1951. They farmed together and Hazel was the picture farm wife. She raised chickens and large gardens as well as helping with other farm duties. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens and making canned goods. She was an active member of Beckville Lutheran Church and served as secretary of WELCA. Marlyn died in 1981. On January 17, 1987, she married Ernie Erickson. They lived in Litchfield and enjoyed many winters in Texas. She belonged to the Red Hat Society and enjoyed the social settings it provided. She enjoyed playing cards and going dancing. She loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband Ernie Erickson of Litchfield; daughters, Linda (and Wayne) Carlson of Litchfield, Sheila Nelson of Maui; grandchildren, Jennifer Carlson, Matthew Carlson (and Derek Shuck) and Michael Nelson; great grandchild Brecklyn Geisler. She is also survived by her step-son, Mike (and Mary) Erickson; step grandchildren, David (and Jennifer) Erickson and Josh Erickson; step great grandchild Noah Erickson; and sister-in-law, Donna (and Dave) Hanson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marlyn Nelson, siblings, Clifford Olson, Lawrence Olson, Mildred Gauger, Donald Olson, Irene Stevenson, Eldon Olson and Vernon Olson.
