Harlan Johnson, age 84, of Litchfield died Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Bethany Memory Care of Litchfield. A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, February 22, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Sunday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery with military honors provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. Harlan Floyd Johnson, the son of Victor and Edna (Nelson) Johnson, was born on September 18, 1931, in Kingston. He grew up and received his education in the Kingston area. He served in the US Marine Corp in Korea from 1951 to 1952. In 1952 he was united in marriage to Arlene Booth at the First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield. They lived in the Kingston area before moving to Arlene's family's farm near Forest City. Harlan enjoyed welding and fabricating, owning and operating several manufacturing companies throughout his lifetime. He started working for CS McCrossan in 1963 and then worked for Palm Industries. In the early 1970's he started his own company; JCraft and operated it until 1979 when he sold it. He continued working in manufacturing as well as farming on the side. Harlan was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield, the Kingston Legion and the Litchfield VFW. He was a charter member of the Forest City Threshers. Harlan enjoyed restoring old tractors and pickups and traveling to antique farm shows. Harlan believed that burning wood was the best way to heat his home. He enjoyed cutting the wood for his wood burning fireplace but, more importantly he loved having his grandson help him with this task. He was instrumental in getting his uncle's ball of twine to Darwin. He is survived by his sons Richard (and Carrie) Johnson of Kimball, Doug (and Laurie) Johnson of Litchfield, grandson, Jared (and Courtney) Johnson and great granddaughter Maci Alice Johnson of Forest City. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Arlene, and brothers Ralph and Robert. Memorials to the First Presbyterian Church are preferred. Previous Events
