Glen W. Doering, age 91, of Litchfield died early Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at the Ecumen Emmanuel Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 PM—8:00 PM at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be held in Lake Ripley Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. Glen Warren Doering, the son of Edwin and Alma (Rischmiller) Doering, was born on October 17, 1923 in Gaylord, MN. He grew up in Gaylord with four brothers and graduated from Gaylord High School in 1941. In February of 1943, he entered the military at Fort Snelling and was assigned to the 34th Regiment, 24th Division where he served in the Pacific Theater during WWII. After being discharged on December 20, 1945, he attended Colorado A&M, worked construction and also attended Gustavus and Dunwoody Institute. On June 26, 1948, he married Norma Abraham at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. They moved to Frederic, Wisconsin in 1949 and Trimont, Minnesota in 1951 where he managed lumber yards. In 1955, his family moved to Litchfield to manage Litchfield Lumber Co. While there, he built many homes throughout Litchfield until 1967, when he founded Agri-Systems, Inc. which continues today as a local 3rd generation construction business. He was a charter and active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Litchfield. He was a member of the 1956 JC group that started the Litchfield Watercade and also a member of the group that started the Litchfield Flying Club in the 1960's. He was an active member of the American Legion for 68 years. He was on the city council as well as involved in local projects such as the Regional HIway 12 study and airport relocation. Glen especially enjoyed his boats, fishing with family and friends, spending time at his Leech Lake cabin and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Norma; children, Ray (and Gail) Doering, Toni (and Charles) Gay, Julie (and Keith) Hollister, Rita (and Bob) Knoll; grandchildren, Erin (and Patrick) Forster, Mike (and Sarah) Doering, Eric (and Stacey) Doering, Kristin (and Andy) Bellows, Jared Hollister, Justin Hollister, Andrea Knoll, Ana Knoll; great grandchildren, Addie Forster, Owen Forster, Bridger Doering and Emmy Doering; brothers James, Lee and R Earl.
