Gladys Eckers

Gladys L. Eckers, age 85, of Litchfield, MN, our loving mom, nana and cissy, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the Emmanuel Nursing Home in Litchfield, MN. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield with Pastor Harvey Nelson and Pastor Tim Hansen officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church one hour before the service. Gladys Lorane Eckers, the daughter of Albert and Mabel (Baker) Ady, was born on March 19, 1923 in Mankato, MN. She grew up in St. Louis Park and graduated from St Louis Park High School. Gladys was united in marriage to Dale Eckers in St. Louis Park on March 1, 1944. She was a long time secretary with the St. Louis Park School system. Gladys was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. She enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, reading, gardening and traveling. She will be remembered for her smile, spunk and her talents in creating many cherished heirlooms. Gladys is survived by her children Dana (and Steve) Broberg, Pam (and Ron) Hix, Curt (and Sonya) Eckers, and Michael (and Diane) Eckers; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandsons; sisters Donna Grantom and Vivian Satre; brother Robert Ady; and dear friend Floyd Fjerstad. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Dale; grandson Todd Broberg; daughter-in-law Jane Eckers; sister Golda Brokke; and brother Al Ady. The family would like to thank the staff at the Emmanuel Nursing Home for the wonderful care and love she received during her 7 year stay.
