Gilbert Finken, 85 of Watkins, passed away on January 4, 2011 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 10:30 am at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins. Rev. John Brunner and Rev. Richard Gross officiated. Interment was in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Watkins. Casket bearers were Adam Weber, Jessica Weber, Cory Finken, Mathew Finken, Abbey Finken and Brad Ehrlichmann. Arrangements were by the Ertl Funeral Home, Watkins. Gilbert Finken was born on September 19, 1925 in Watkins to Michael and Anna (Winter) Finken. He served in the US Army in Korea during WWII. On July 16, 1952, Gilbert was united in marriage to Dolores Weirens at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Richmond and they resided in Watkins. Gilbert worked at the Watkins Creamery for a short time prior to working as a carpenter for Kaufman Building and Supply for over 30 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church and was active as an usher, a bingo and festival worker and a Bouja team member. He was also a member of the Watkins SportsmenA�A�A½s club and a 60 plus year member of the Watkins American Legion Post #453. GilbertA�A�A½s hobbies included hunting and fishing, playing cards and tinkering at almost anything. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and visiting with friends. Survivors include his wife, Dolores Finken of Watkins; children and their spouses, Tom and Barbara Finken of Watkins, Pat and Chad Weber of St. Cloud, Jim and Casey Finken of Granite Falls, Dan and Lisa Finken of Brainerd; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Ardell and Marian Finken of Grabil, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Cyrilla Nohner and Ethel Haag.
